Application
Conservative treatment of trigeminal neuralgia is supplemented by blockades of the damaged nerve branch.
The blockade is a local injection of the drug into the area of the exit of the trigeminal nerve branch:
- in case of pathology of the supraorbital branch, the drug is injected into the area of the inner edge of the superciliary arch,
- in case of pathology of the infraorbital branch – in the area of the nasolabial fold,
- in case of pathology of the chin branch – in the chin area.
With such blockades, the following can be administered locally:
- anesthetics,
- hormonal drugs.
Diagnostics
Also, the blockade can be not only therapeutic, but also diagnostic in nature, in order to make sure that the source of pain impulses is correctly identified, if such a blockade is effective, surgical treatment is performed:

- electron-optical converter,
- magnetic resonance imaging,
- multispiral computed tomography,
- radiofrequency denervation device
