On 3.05.23, in the KNP “TOKPNL” TOR, an aneurysm of the cerebral vessels was embolized for the first time on its own. As a result of the rupture of the aneurysm, patient K, 45 years old, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. The only way to treat such a pathology is to exclude the aneurysm (a sac in the wall of a cerebral vessel). The endovascular method allows you to do this without incisions, safely, quickly and reliably. Through a puncture on the thigh, the patient was introduced a catheter into the femoral artery and angiography was performed – a picture of the cerebral vessels , where an aneurysm was detected, as well as a severe complication of subarachnoid hemorrhage: vasospasm – narrowing of the lumen of the cerebral vessels, sometimes to the point of complete cessation of blood flow.

Aneurysm: when time decides everything
We continue to provide high-tech care to our patients. Recently, a successful operation was performed to treat a cerebral aneurysm - a dangerous bulge in the wall of an artery that can rupture and cause a brain hemorrhage, often leading to disability or death. Thanks to the coordinated work of the team, we managed to perform an emergency intervention and save the patient.
Endovascular embolization: surgery from the inside
The operation was performed using endovascular embolization, a minimally invasive technique that does not require open brain surgery. The doctor inserts a thin catheter through an artery, usually in the thigh, and guides it directly to the aneurysm.
During this procedure, special spirals with shape memory (coils) were inserted into the aneurysm cavity. These microspirals twisted, forming a dense ball that filled the aneurysm and prevented rebleeding. Additionally, pharyngoplasty was performed - the introduction of drugs to relieve vascular spasm, which allowed safe access to the affected area.
Modern technologies and teamwork: the key to success
This complex operation was made possible by the state-of-the-art Siemens Artis One angiograph, which provides surgeons with a clear image of the vessels in real time. But the most important factor in success is the coordinated work of the entire operating team: experienced neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, trained nurses and other specialists.
The operation was performed by : Leontiev O.Yu., Zhuravlev O.F., Feshchenko B.S., Molchanova I.O..
Result and future prospects
Thanks to timely intervention, the patient left the operating room without any neurological deficit. His life was saved, and he is doing well. Although he will need lifelong monitoring to control the risk of new aneurysms, he has been given a chance to live a full life. This story proves once again that such a severe type of stroke as aneurysmal hemorrhage can be treated urgently, quickly and safely.
